Sci-Fi, Tech, Or Fantasy: What To Watch This Weekend

Updated: Nov 3, 2023

The 100, Expanse, Dark, Black Mirror, and many more binge-worthy must-watch shows

If you are a sci-fi genre fan, continue reading this, if not, then DEFINITELY read this! You don't want to miss out on these recommendations.

I am sure you must have watched Star Wars or Star Trek or Avengers (if not, then please start with any one of these, you don't want to miss out). But, I have some underrated, bingeworthy movies or shows that might interest you!

Sci-Fi

If you are interested in dystopian genre in sci-fi, where in an imaginary place life is extremely bad due to deprivation or oppression or terror, then The 100 will take you to places (literally and figuratively)! Each and every season of this show elevates the concept of dystopian societies. It is available on Netflix.

Some shows released based on the post pandemic scenarios are equally gripping in this genre. My recommendation would be Sweet Tooth and Last of Us.

Space-Tech Magic

Space exploration as a genre has gained immense popularity in the past couple of years. Yes, Interstellar! And no, that's not my recommendation. If you're interested in space exploration, then Life in Space, Another Life, and Expanse are a few shows that are good.

For space-time alterations, Dark is a must watch! I bet you to understand the whole storyline in one watch! Dirk Gently is also a lighthearted show that ran two seasons in this genre.

If the concept that technology is a curse rather than a boon piques your interest, then Black Mirror, Brave New World, and Matrix are some of the good shows/movies that will make you think about it.

Fantasy & Mythology

Apart from sci-fi, if you are a bookworm and a potter head, and fantasy and mythology excites you, I have tons of book recommendations for that!

Start with Percy Jackson and the Olympians. It is a book series on Greek Mythology.

Heroes of Olympus is the extension of Percy Jackson which primarily focuses on Roman Mythology and connection between Greek - Roman World.

Magnus Chase for Norse Mythology, Carter Kane for Egyptian Mythology, and Aru Shah for Hindu Mythology (Focused on Pandavas) should satisfy your love for this genre. Ragnarök, Shadows and Bones, Shannara, Wheel of Time are some of my favourite shows based on fantasy and mythology.
