Non-Foodies: The Introverts Of Gastronomy

In a predominantly foodie world, being a non-foodie is like being a unicorn among horses

Cricket, politics, cinema, and food are undeniably the most talked-about subjects in a nation inhabited by 1.4 billion people. While discussions on cricket, politics, and cinema often revolve around events or are topical, food stands out as a perennial subject. Perhaps it's because of the incredible diversity our country offers every 200 kilometers. From festive occasions to office gatherings, "food" remains an endless topic of conversation.

Speaking of food, it's also impossible to overlook the fervent food enthusiasts among us. These individuals not only appreciate food and recipes but also possess the enthusiasm to travel long distances just to savour a particular dish. But, what does food mean to someone who isn't particularly passionate about it? Yes, there exists a species known as the "non-foodie."

The Non-Foodie

‘Non-foodies’ may be considered the introverts in the world of gastronomy. While their peers eagerly share weekly culinary updates, a non-foodie may feel somewhat disconnected. After all, why the fuss over something as mundane as food? For them, food is akin to the grey t-shirt in Mark Zuckerberg's wardrobe – it's just there, an everyday occurrence, happening three times a day.

At home, a non-foodie may be asked, "What do you want for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?" Returning from a vacation, colleagues inquire, "How was the food there?" And when a new restaurant opens in town... well, you can guess what follows.

In a world dominated by food enthusiasts, navigating the culinary landscape as a non-foodie can feel like exploring a foreign land without a map. But that's perfectly okay. Embrace your identity as a non-foodie and take comfort in the fact that you're unique. After all, variety is the spice of life – even for those who aren't particularly enthralled by culinary adventures. Remember you are a rare species!!!
