Using visual aid, LVF educated school children about the importance of maintaining dental hygiene
Continuing its endeavor to improve the health and well-being of communities, Lodha Ventures Foundation has conducted an insightful session at Savardev Vidyamandir Zilla Parishad School in Burondi, Dapoli, for 54 students. The session focused on the importance of dental hygiene, providing students with valuable knowledge on maintaining healthy teeth and gums.
By addressing topics such as dental cleaning techniques, overall cleanliness, and dental health-related diseases, the session taken under the ongoing Mobile Medical Unit initiative aims to instill good oral care habits that will benefit students.
The primary objective of the session was to educate school children about the significance of dental hygiene and equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to maintain healthy teeth and gums. To achieve this, the Mobile Medical Unit incorporated an approach that combined theoretical learning with practical demonstrations.
The session began with an informative video showcasing proper tooth cleaning techniques such as brushing teeth at least twice a day and flossing regularly.. The visual aid served as a useful tool to engage the students and provide them with a clear understanding of the step-by-step process of cleaning teeth effectively. Following the video, a live demonstration of tooth brushing was conducted. This interactive approach encouraged active participation and enhanced the students' ability to grasp the concepts effectively.
Additionally, the students were educated about the potential diseases and conditions that can arise from poor dental health. The Mobile Medical Unit shed light on common dental problems, including cavities, gum disease, and bad breath, and provided insights into the preventive measures that can be taken to avoid these issues.
LVF has also been providing free healthcare facilities to the underprivileged rural communities near Dapoli, Maharashtra. To tackle the lack of basic medical amenities in the nearby communities, the Lodha Ventures Foundation launched a fully-equipped Mobile Medical Unit in September, 2022.
The van, manned by two medical staff and a support staff, tours 22 surrounding villages providing basic medical services to nearly 20,000 needy, while also working closely with local health centres and gram panchayats.
