Kanniyakumari: India's Southern 'Land's End'

This the only place in the entire world where you can witness both sunrise and sunset

On a Saturday night, the decision was made to take an extraordinary 950km drive from home to the southernmost tip of India - Kanniyakumari.

While many stories abound on what to do in Kanniyakumari, the allure of this place lies in its ability to transport you to where you are meant to be. The undeniable charm of the locale and the rhythmic sound of the beach have an inexplicable power — they evoke a sense of contentment, bring tears to your eyes, and make you acutely aware that you are truly alive in that moment.

Embarking on a soul-stirring journey to this coastal town in Tamil Nadu, I experienced the ethereal sunrise and sunset at the Triveni Sangam, the point where you can get mesmerised by the allure of the confluence of the Bay of Bengal, Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean at Dhanushkodi beach. It is the only place in the entire world where one can witness both the rising and setting of the sun. The cultural tapestry woven in every corner of this small district, this trip has been nothing short of enchanting.

Exploring some of the iconic landmarks such as the Thiruvalluvar Statue and Vivekananda Rock Memorial, makes you realise that each whisper tales of history and spirituality. I also indulged in the vibrant local culture, from traditional dances to savouring the flavors of Kanniyakumari's unique cuisine, while enjoying nature's beauty unfold in every direction - from the pristine beaches to the awe-inspiring landscapes.

Reflecting on this adventure, now, all I can remember is having moments of deep reflection and the warm embrace of local hospitality. To witness the hues of the sunset painting the sky and feeling the serenity of this coastal haven was truly a surreal escapade from our busy realities.
