A Pledge to Sustainability

As a young and dynamic brand, HoABL's commitment to the environment extends far beyond traditional efforts like beach cleanups and tree planting.

On World Environment Day, The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL) marked a significant milestone by announcing the adoption of its Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) policy. This commitment underscores HoABL’s dedication to aligning with global environmental goals and giving back to nature.

As a young and dynamic brand, HoABL's commitment to the environment extends far beyond traditional efforts like beach cleanups and tree planting. It is deeply embedded in every aspect of their operations.

According to Mr. Prashant Karwe, Sr. VP – Design, HoABL ensures sustainable development while preserving natural ecosystems. For instance, if natural streams exist on a site, HoABL maintains their natural course or diverts them to align closely with their original path, avoiding drastic alterations. Multiple water bodies are incorporated into projects to cool the environment, enhance aesthetics, and provide mist and water fountains.

HoABL also minimizes disruption to the local terrain and environment by maintaining soil conditions that support local flora and fauna. Topsoil is conserved and reused to ensure native vegetation thrives. In terms of tree plantation, HoABL prioritizes indigenous tree varieties and minimizes the use of exotic species, selecting trees based on their ability to thrive in the local climate, which reduces mortality rates.

HoABL’s dedicated EPC team has implemented innovative practices that have yielded impressive results. Water consumption has been reduced by 30% through the use of self-curing concrete. About 50% of cement use has been substituted with Fly Ash bricks and materials like GGBS, and energy consumption has been reduced by 20-30% through the use of LED lighting. Smart MEP solutions have minimized water use by up to 30%.

Since its inception, apart from topsoil conservation techniques, HoABL has implemented rainwater harvesting, water reuse from natural streams and terrain, and nursery developments. Recycled plastic paver blocks and waste concrete cubes for pathways and platforms are common features at their projects, while 70% of project roads are lined with lush shade trees.

At the heart of HoABL's Ayodhya project stands a majestic, over-50-year-old native tree, seamlessly integrated into the design. The Bicholim development in Goa is adorned with over 3000 indigenous trees, reflecting HoABL’s biophilic design philosophy. Similar practices are followed at other sites, including Anjarle, Dapoli, and Vasco.

Landowners can enjoy the bounties of nut and fruit trees planted at HoABL sites. Additionally, steps are being implemented to ensure wastewater treatment and the installation of organic waste converters across all projects. From green cement to environment-friendly anti-termite products, ESG compliance practices are gaining momentum across all HoABL developments.

On World Environment Day, HoABL reiterated its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions as its long-term goal. This ambition aligns with the company’s mission to create a positive environmental impact while building intergenerational wealth for its investors. Through initiatives like sourcing local materials, encouraging recycling and reusing, retaining the original topography and landscape, and promoting low-impact development, HoABL is leading the way toward a sustainable future.
