Mobile Medical Unit: Health On Wheels

Updated: Mar 28

SLF launched a new Mobile Medical Unit in Neral to create a lasting impact in the region

Sheetal Lodha Foundation’s commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of underserved communities has driven the team to initiate various activities, each contributing to the vision of fostering growth and well-being. One such activity is that of the health project i.e. Mobile Medical Unit, an initiative started in September 2022, under the leadership and guidance of Mrs Sheetal Lodha.

On conducting a need assessment in Neral, the SLF team recognised the need for providing basic healthcare and specialised care for remote rural settlements in the region. With this idea, the team, last month, introduced a mobile medical unit in Neral. This strategic initiative aligns with the foundation's commitment to addressing healthcare disparities and enhancing accessibility to medical facilities in the community.

For over a year now, in the heart of Dapoli, SLF's Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) stands as a beacon of hope, bringing vital healthcare services to the doorsteps of 23 villages of the region. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the MMU has served as a fully-fledged healthcare facility on wheels in the remote rural areas of Dapoli.

Focus Areas

  1. Awareness Sessions: Conducting informative sessions such as those on dental hygiene and awareness programs for young girls on menstrual hygiene, the MMU aims to promote better health practices and empower villagers with knowledge for effective health management.

  2. General Health Checkup Camps: Regular general health checkups ensure early identification of health concerns, allowing for timely medical intervention. Vital signs are measured, common illnesses screened for, and health complaints addressed. Essential medications are provided to those in need, ensuring accessibility for all.

  3. Specialized Health Camps: Sheetal Lodha Foundation's Mobile Medical Unit Leaves a Lasting Impact In addition to our General Health Checkup Camps and Awareness Sessions, our specialized health camps through school camps and villagers' health camps in Dapoli brought vital healthcare services to the citizens. These camps included haemoglobin screening camps, eye screening camps and dental screening camps.
